Halotron™ I
EXTINGUISHING MECHANISM
AND FEATURES

Halotron™ I is a clean fire extinguishing agent that is discharged as a precisely dispersed rapidly evaporating (i.e. volatile) liquid.

The primary extinguishing mechanism of Halotron™ I is the absorption and removal of heat from the combustion zone.

To a much lesser extent, the extinguishing mechanism is the displacement of oxygen from the combustion zone.

APPLICATIONS

Extremely valuable, delicate and sensitive hazards or areas where other dry or wet chemicals including water could cause irreplaceable damage. This clean agent leaves no residue. USE in such locations as airports, storage facilities, manufacturing plants, processing operations, rail yards, utility relay stations and flammable liquid and gas processing facilities.

FEATURES

  • DOT approved cylinders with chrome plated brass valve assemblies. Cylinders are manufactured to DOT specification 4BW240. Valves are designed and manufactured to Buckeye's rigid standard of quality.
  • Highly visible pressure-indicating gauge.
  • Cylinders and carriages are shot blasted, primed and coated with the finest polyurethane powder paint finish that exceeds Underwriter's Laboratories salt spray requirements.
  • TOW Loops are available upon request for the 65 lb. unit and standard on the 150 lb unit.
  • All Booster hoses are Underwriter's Laboratories listed, coupled with brass chrome plated fittings. Hose lengths are as shown in the specification chart.
  • All units are equipped with all weather semipneumatic 16 in diameter, 4 in. wide tires that allows for easy moveabitlity through narrow doors and walkways by a single operator.
  • Built to ANSI/UL 1093 and 711 standards.

STATIONARY UNITS ARE ALSO AVAILABLE SIMILAR TO ABOVE LESS WHEELS AND TOW LOOP.

STATISTICAL DATA

ATMOSPHERIC LIFETIME
3.5 TO 11 YEARS

GLOBAL WARMING POTENTIAL (GWP)
Halotron™ I has a low GWP in the range between 0.04-0.24 (CFC-11-1-0).

OZONE DEPLETION POTENTIAL (0DP)
Halotron™ I has an extremely low ODP of no more than 0.014 (CFC-11-1-0). Halon 1211 has an ODP that is Greater than 4.0. The ODP of Halotron™ I is more than twelve times lower than the EPA maximum permissible ODP of 0.20.

ELECTRICAL NONCONDUCTIVE
Does not cause thermoshock on sensitive electrical equipment.

Halotron™ I is a HydroChloroFluoroCarbon nonconductive agent pressurized with argon. Approved by the EPA and FAA as HCFC blend B for use on class "A," "B," and "C" type fires. This agent is an excellent replacement for Halon 1211.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
A comparison of Halon 1211 and Halotron™ I chemical properties is presented on the chart below. As you will see, the very low Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) of Halotron™ I is less than one-tenth of the EPA"s maximum acceptable level. Halotron™ I also meets Global Warming Potential (GWP) and toxicity standards.
